WindowsでPDFファイルを検索

手元にあるたくさんのPDFファイルの全文検索をしたいと思ったのだが、Macのようにどんな形式のファイルでもファインダーから高速に検索できる(Spotlightだっか？)ようにOSが作られていればいいのだが、Windowsではどうすればいいのか？、と思案中だった。

以前は（かなり昔）グーグルのデスクトップサーチというソフトがあって、インストールするだけで簡単にPC全体のファイル内検索ができたのだが、残念ながらこのソフトはグーグル内の製品リストラでなくなってしまった。

Acrobat Readerを使えば全文検索できるらしいのだが、いちいち起動するのは面倒だし、そもそもAcrobat Readerを使っていない。(PDFはブラウザーで読んでいる)

で、いろいろ探していたら、この記事を発見。

この記事から受けるイメージではちょっと難しそうなのだが、インストール、設定、使用とも簡単だった。

AdobeサイトからこのiFilterというのをダウンロードして起動すればインストールが始まる。インストールが終わればそれだけでエクスプローラーの検索窓からC:ドライブ全体のPDFファイルの検索ができるようになった検索が可能になる。

ボクの場合は、D:ドライブも検索できるようにしたかったので、インデック化する場所にD:ドライブを追加。これで小1時間ほどインデックス作成が終わるまで待てば、検索できるようになる。

うれしい！検索のスピードも速いし(^_^)。

なお、インデックス作成に時間がかかるのは初回だけで、その後のファイルは次第に増えるだけなので、インデックス化は気づかないうちに終わっている。
